Mohammed is a young boy from Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State. After his parents divorced, he moved with his father to the state capital. Life became even harder when his father remarried — and Mohammed’s stepmother turned his childhood into a nightmare. Denied food, frequently punished, and with a father earning very little as a security guard, Mohammed was forced into survival too early. At less than 10 years old, instead of being in school, he was enrolled in a local mechanic workshop.

Every day, Mohammed trekked over an hour to and from the workshop, often on an empty stomach. When he returned home late, he faced more beatings. His days were filled with hunger, exhaustion, and pain — until hope arrived.

One day, Blessing, our Founder, visited the neighborhood and noticed this small boy, drained yet working so hard. She stopped, spoke with him, and listened to his story. Determined to help, she followed him home, met his father, and after much convincing, was able to enroll Mohammed in school through our Scholarship Scheme.

Today, Mohammed has completed his primary education and waiting for the next phase of education. No longer defined by hardship, but by the hope of a brighter future.

This is why we exist — to give children like Mohammed the chance to dream again
